Abstract Art Season on BBC Four

How do you show BBC viewers that BBC Four is launching an art series unlike any other?

I took the trailers that were due to be on-air and gave them to visual artists and composers to ‘abstractify’ them. This meant that live viewers were caught unawares, watching as their on-air juctions were transformed in front of their eyes.

While we commissioned contemporary abstract artists to create bespoke channel idents, to complete the abstraction of BBC Four junctions.

This helped BBC Four become the only BBC channel to grow it’s reach, with 1/20th of the budget of BBC One, and our campaign outperformed high-profile work like The Winter Olympics to win GEMA gold for Best On-Air Campaign.
